Bihar SC commission chairman resigns to contest polls
Patna, Sep 13 (PTI) Bihar Scheduled Caste Commission Chairman Ramai Ram today resigned and announced to contest the elections from Bochaha assembly constituency in Bihar's Muzaffarpur district on a ruling JD-U ticket.Ram went to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's official residence this morning to submit resignation.Later, talking to reporters, Ram said he would throw his hat into the ring from Bochaha assembly seat which he had represented for five times in a row.Ram, who was a senior minister in Lalu Prasad and Rabri Devi cabinets, had resigned from RJD shortly before the LS poll and switched over to Congress which rewarded him a party ticket to contest LS elections from Gopalganj.After facing a humiliating defeat from Gopalganj, Ram switched over to the ruling JD-U, but had lost the 1999 bye-elections to the Bochaha assembly seat.Chief minister had a few months ago appointed Ram as chairman of the commission.
