Nitish Kumar has not sought dissolution of Bihar Assembly

“I have not recommended dissolution of Vidhan Sabha. I don't wish for that to happen. Just submitted my resignation,” Nitish Kumar, the JDU leader said addressing a press conference in Patna.

He has resigned although he still has majority in the 243 member State Assembly. Few weeks back JDU had dared BJP to bring no-confidence motion if they thought his government was in minority. He has 113 MLAs in House of 243. His government crossed the majority number 122 with the support of 4 Congress MLAs and 6 independents. Kumar still holds that "It was a good decision to split with BJP. It wasn't a hurriedly taken decision. It was our ideological stand."

Now MLAs have to decide between JDU and BJP for the formation of a new government in Bihar.
The talk of a possible alliance between RJD and JDU is also in the air.
