Jitan Ram Manjhi to be Bihar's next Chief Minister

Jitan Ram Manjhi has been chosen as the next CM of Bihar by Nitish Kumar. He submitted Manjhi’s name to Governor DY Patil on May 17.  At present, Manjhi is the SC/ST, OBS, EBC welfare minister in the Bihar government.

JD(U) Legislature Party authorised Nitish Kumar o choose a new leader. Manjhi is a MLA from the Barachatti constituency by defeating Samta Devi of Rashtriya Janata Dal. This change is a result of Nitish Kumar's plan to work for his party JDU.  Manjhi is a Mahadalit from the Musahar community.

Ridiculing BJP leader, Sushil Kumar Modi for making a claiming that 50 JD(U) MLAs were with him, Nitish said, "Even after resigning I did not dissolve the assembly to give scope for forming a new government ... I have given BJP 48 hours to form a new government with the help of 50 JD(U) MLAs. The fact is that JD(U) enjoyed comfortable majority in the assembly as besides its own strength of 117 MLAs including the speaker, it enjoyed support of 4 Congress MLAs, 1 CPI and 3 Independents.

Earlier, BJP held a press conference to allege that JDU is trying to appease upper caste constituency.

Kumar said that Sushil Modi stood exposed as his lies are out in the open.
