RCSS Organizes Training Course with The Center for Future Studies
As part of the Regional Center for Strategic Studies (RCSS) training program, and in collaboration with the Center for Future Studies at Assiut University, RCSS organized three training courses throughout the second quarter of the year (April, May, June) for students of Upper Egypt universities. The first course took place in Assiut University, followed by one in Sohag University, and finally one in Sohag University's New Valley branch. A total of 220 students from different fields participated in the courses. The courses consisted of several lectures and workshops.


 
Assiut University Training Course (April 22nd to 23rd)

Titled "Protecting the Civil State in the Arab World", the course took place in Assiut University's headquarters from the 22nd to the 23rd of April. Participating in the course were 70 students of various faculties, particularly Law, Business, Literature, Education, Agriculture, and Media. The course was inaugurated by Dr. Mohamed Abd El Sameea Eid, dean of Assiut University, with a number of professors and specialists giving lectures throughout the duration of the course. Lectures and discussions touched on a number of subjects, including the war on terror, human rights, the nation state in the Arab world and challenges to survival, the Egyptian economy and the concept of national projects (such as the new Suez Canal), Egypt/US relations post-June 30, among others.

Sohag University Training Course (April 29th to 30th)

The second cycle of the course took place in Sohag University, titled "Reviving Egypt's Regional Role in Africa and the Arab World". 80 students participated in the course, particularly those studying Business, Medicine, Literature, Education, Social Services, and Law. The course was held under the auspices of Dr. Nabil Nour El Din, dean of Sohag University, with participation from a number of professors and experts. Among the main topics discussed in the sessions were Egypt's role in the region, Egypt's foreign policy, African relations and Egypt's rights to Nile waters, and regional threats and challenges facing Egypt.

Assiut University New Valley Branch Training Course (May 6th to 7th)

The final course took place in Assiut University's New Valley branch, titled "The Nation State: Security and Development". 70 students, particularly those studying Veterinary Medicine, Agriculture, Literature, and Business, attended the course. Heading the course were General Mahmoud Abdelrahman Ashmawy, governor of the New Valley, and Dr. Mohamed Abd El Sameea Eid, dean of Assiut University. Lectures were given by a number of professors and experts in various fields, discussing such topics as development issues, particularly in border governorates, national projects, and the state's communication with the youth, particularly in border governorates.

It is worth noting that several media outlets covered the proceedings of the course, including Al-Ahram and Al Youm Al Sabea.
