It is reported that the Govt. of India have issued two gazette notifications. It is mentioned that as per Passport Act 1920 & Foreigners Act, 1946, those people have entered into India illegally, they will not be treated as 'illegal migrants. They can stay in India, police will not arrest them. Good. But what about Citizenship ? Nothing. What about the Clause 2(1)(b) of 'The Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2003. BJP Govt. is silent on this point, because the Act was the production of BJP regime. Unless and until the Clause of the said Act is intact, nothing good can be expected. Why notification or Govt. order or ordinance ? Why not Bill / Act ? This move of the Govt. of India is almost nothing to the refugees.
BiharWatch is an initiative of the East India Research Council (EIRC) which focuses on public policy, public finance, law making and justice besides nature and science. It attempts to keep an eye on poems, unalloyed truth, unsound business, paid news, courts, central and state legislatures, central and state governments, courts, district and block administrations, mayors, mukhiyas, sarpanchs, police stations, jails, the migrants from earliest times and neighbors.
