JDU-RJD alliance to contest 10 seats in bypolls, CPIML to fight at 5 seats

Ten assembly constituencies namely, Jale, Parbatta, Mohania, Mohiuddinagar, Raj Nagar, Chapra, Banka, Hajipur, Narkatiaganj and Bhagalpur will go to polls on August 21, 2014.
  
The five sitting MLAs from Chapra, Bhagalpur, Hajipur, Mohania and Narkatiaganj were Janardan Singh Sigriwal, Ashwani Choubey, Nityanand Rai, Chhedi Paswan and Satish Chandra Dubey respectively. They have been elected to the Lok Sabha.

The other five MLAs had resigned from their seats.

RJD MLAs from Parbatta, Rajnagar and Banka namely, Samrat Chaudhary, Ram Lakhan Ram Raman and Javed Ansari respectively had resigned from the RJD to support JDU. They have been nominated to the Legislative Council and made ministers in JDU led government.
Two BJP MLAs from Jale and Mohiuddinagar, Vijay Mishra and Rana Gangeswar Singh had resigned as they were unhappy with BJP.

Post parliamentary elections, BJP is all set to face a united front of anti-BJP parties, Janata Dal-United (JD-U), Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), and left parties except CPIML Liberation are likely to be in alliance. CPIML Liberation is contesting on its own for five assembly seats including Mohania, Hajipur and Bhagalpur.
