In his first address to the 15th Bihar Assembly on 3rd December, Governor Devanand Konwar listed Bihar government’s priorities. Two main issues the Nitish Kumar government immediately plans to tackle are poor electricity supply and corruption. The Governor, who delivered his speech in Hindi, said Bihar would be a developed state by 2015. He reiterated the state government’s demand of special category status for Bihar.
The Governor listed measures taken to develop the state. The government aims to take electricity to every Bihar village by 2015, Konwar said, explaining how it planned to procure 1980 MW power from NTPC and other sources. “The State Investment Promotion Board has cleared 21 power projects capacitated to generate 27,707 MW for Rs 1.36 lakh crore. Also, 21 projects to get 988 MW power from non-conventional energy sources have been sanctioned,” Governor said. The 166th session of the Vidhan Sabha commenced on 3rd December.
