With their decisive voice – No to cruel creditors – the people in Greece have stood for democracy with dignity. It's a victory for people; it's a victory for democracy; it's a victory for dignity. It's a victory in people's political fight against the brutal bankers who were bleeding Greece white. It's a verdict against austerity, poverty, loot of public property. It's historic

By Ghali Hassan

Terrorism is an instrument used by powerful Western governments to justify violent aggression and geopolitical domination. If the U.S. and U.S. allies really want to defeat terrorism, including ISIS terrorists in Iraq and Syria, they would stop arming and financing the terrorists and stop participating in terrorism

We need factual information almost immediately, that's generally available to enable an interconnected change to be in time to avoid the high possibility of billions of deaths. It's a matter of the wealthy few to realise their defencelessness in the face of global warming and associated danger, and that money may even be a liability for them. Presently we tend to see those people as our enemies, but if we are to influence the wealthy ones, which is the first step to our survival, we must see them like everyone, as potential friends for our survival

Extensions of South Africa's Cape Floral Region Protected Areas and Viet Nam's Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park were also approved by the World Heritage Committee, as recommended by IUCN. The announcements were made at the UNESCO World Heritage Committee meeting taking place in Bonn, Germany

A Far Fethched Feminst Demand
By Sushmita Verma

http://www.countercurrents.org/verma060715.htm

Women do not live in their vaginas and hence feeding into the mass rhetoric of sexual violence being graver than other forms of violence that women endure, we, as feminists contradict our own arguments. While demanding law reforms we need to prioritise civil remedies like shelter homes, healthcare, counseling which provide an alternative strutcture to the women. Strong campaigns to salvage the DV Act from impending dilution would be a parallel step. Only then can we demand other amendements within the act itself. Moreover, the bigger question that we need to answer would be, whether the normalization of domestic violence is okay with us while we raise a certain kind of violence to the pedestal ?
