PK Shahi challenges High Court's stay on Nitish's election as JDU legislature party leader

Former Bihar minister P K Shahi has filed a petition challenging the stay by Patna High Court on Nitish Kumar's election as JDU legislature party  leader  and requested it be withdrawn. The court was expected to hear the petition February 12 evening.

The court  stayed Nitish Kumar's election on February 11 after hearing a petition filed by Rajeshwar Raj, a MLA who is the camp of Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi.  The court had fixed February 17 as the next date of hearing.  The court heard the matter challenging the legality of JDU esident Sharad Yadav's action of summoning the legislature party meeting of February 7 which elected Nitish Kumar as its new leader.

A notification issued by Hareram Mukhiya, secretary in-charge of the state assembly, said Speaker Uday Narayan Chaudhary has recognised Nitish Kumar as the new leader of the JD-U legislature party.

On February 9, Manjhi was expelled from JDU party for six years.
