The Union Cabinet has approved up to 100% FDI in railways and up to 49% in defence sector.

Increasing FDI cap from 26% upto 49% in Defence Sector will put a big question mark on safety and security of the nation.

Where successive governments have been consciously avoiding FDI in Railways Sector for strategic and security reasons, the Central Government has, for the first time, now allowed upto 100% FDI in Railways.

I do not know what will be the fate and future of this country ???

Tomorrow is Rakhi - 'Raksha Bandhan'.

Heartiest greetings and best wishes to all my brothers and sisters.

May the sweet bond between brothers and sisters be perpetual and usher in happiness, peace and prosperity in your lives.

Incidentally, Shah Rukh is present today with us in Kolkata Police - Star Jalsha 'Jai He' programme at Netaji Indoor Stadium.

We celebrated 'Raksha Bandhan' on the occasion.

The song 'hrid majhare rakhibo...' sung by a Kolkata Police friend created a befitting background for the occasion

Some pictures of today's event are uploaded here for all of you to see.

Bengal ranked No.1 in the country in terms of expenditure under 100-days work in 2013-14. We exceeded our budget and recorded highest-ever expenditure of more than Rs.5600 Crore.

In spite of such achievement, Central Government has not released its full share of funds to the State Government so far. Nearly Rs.885 Crore is still pending. Poor people are not getting their wages.

Now there is a hearsay that 100-days work will be run in some select Blocks of the country on intensified mode.

What would then happen to the poor people of other Blocks? Would they be deprived of work?

Attacks on statutory rights of the downtrodden people are not acceptable.

Why such action?

Why poor people will be deprived?

Why this discrimination?

Why New Government is insensitive about the poor people?

Our Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Sector is now No. 1 in the country with more than 35,000 new units having been set up with employment of nearly 3 lakh 20 thousand people and highest credit disbursement worth Rs.35,000 Crores over the last three years in the state.

We have been organizing SYNERGY since September, 2013 to provide more customized solutions to the MSME entrepreneurs through hand holding support and personalized guidance. Nearly 40,000 entrepreneurs visited the clinics, help desks and technology pavilions and bank loan worth hundreds of crores were sanctioned to nearly 1800 enterprises in this first-ever state level conclave.

In 2014 we adopted the strategy of taking Synergy closer to the field level and accordingly we organized the first regional Synergy at Siliguri in February this year. The second regional Synergy was held at Howrah on 1-2 August, 2014. Loans worth Rs 1000 Crore were sanctioned and investment proposals close to Rs 5000 Crore were received in the Synergy at Howrah.

In a significant development, Korean and Taiwanese entrepreneurs are showing interest in investing in manufacture of Computer Hardware & Electronics in West Bengal.
They are world leaders in this domain. This would usher in investment and major job opportunities for youth of our State, which is endowed with intellectually rich human resources for cutting edge electronic manufacturing.
On visiting Hardware Park coming up at Naihati, the Korean team became highly optimistic about Bengal, as future destination of the Korean hardware investments. Koreans are looking at Bengal as the gateway of export of electronic and hardware items to Bangladesh, Mayanmar, China and other major ASEAN countries.
With the advent of the world class players like Korea and Taiwan, our State is targeting to improve its market share in hardware and electronic goods significantly.
I am happy to inform all of you about these developments.
I am also happy to share with you that today, I have inaugurated a new facility of a major industrial group at Barjora in Bankura, which will manufacture Dielectric (Capacitor) Film, a unique product in the country.
Bengal continues to move ahead.

United Nation’s leading agency, United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) has announced to set up a unique Centre of Excellence in Entrepreneurship Training in Kolkata in association with EMPRETEC and our State Government.

This Centre will be the first of its kind in the world, connecting not only all the States of India, but also the developing and developed Nations of the world, to nurture and handhold entrepreneurship.

It will provide training, education, skill development along with access to finance to our aspiring entrepreneurs.

This initiative would help to create young entrepreneurs, thereby more jobs and give economic activity in the region a significant boost.

I thought of sharing this information with all of you.
