Arun Kumar declared Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)'s Candidate from Begusarai

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has declared Arun Kumar, a member of Press Council of India as the candidate from Begusarai. Kumar is also Member National Executive Committee, Indian Journalists Union (IJU), General Secretary, BWJU and has been President, The Times Of India Newspaper Employees Union (TOINEU). He is a senior journalist with over 25 years of experience. He started his career with The New Republic, Ranchi, and after serving in Udit Vani, Jamshedpur, Prabhat Khabar Ranchi, Janshakti , Patna, Nav Bharat Times, Patna. He retired from The Times of India, Patna quite recently. He was the co-author of Press Council of India's report on media being gagged by Bihar government.The Press Council of India had appointed a three-member team to examine issues related to freedom of press in Bihar after the council received complaints regarding the issue. Kumar was a member of this team. This team's report which was critical of the role of the coalition government in Bihar of which BJP was a part during the period of the inquiry.
