Amidst political murders, CPIML candidate Raju Yadav appears ahead of rivals in Arrah

Raju Yadav, a law graduate and Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) candidate has struggled for years in Arrah constituency. The party had got 1.16 lakh votes in 2009 elections. The party had won this seat in 1989.

JDU's Meena Devi who is the sitting MP had won the seat with 2.12 lakh votes because JDU and BJP were in coalition.

Raju Yadav has been a leader of All India Students Association (AISA).

Had rivals been not worried, CPIML's block secretary Budhram Paswan and party supporter Akbar Khan would not have been killed. The police have registered an FIR against six persons, Chandrabhushan Singh, Arvind Pandey, Virendra Pandey, Vinod Pandey, Bikhari Rai, Munna Rai and seven unknown persons. The accused have been booked for murder, common intention, and under Sections of the Arms Act and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act

Lok Janshakti Party (LJP)'s had got 1.38 lakh votes. The division of about 4 lakh Rajput votes between Meena Devi and BJP's R K Singh will also work to CPIML's advantage because although LJP is in coalition with BJP, their votes does not appear to be transferrable. It is also a fact that since 1952, this Lok Sabha constituency has never had any MP from BJP.
